February 24, 2014: We met our tour leaders and tour group in Cape Town last night – seems like a good mix and great group of people so we’re really excited for this adventure!
NOTE: This post is one of many covering our time on the fantastic GAdventures Dunes, Deltas and Falls tour.
This morning we were introduced to our overland vehicle, Nyathi (named after the famed soccer player), which seems comfortable and roomy enough. We departed Cape Town for our first destination – Cederberg. The drive was about five hours and the scenery along the way was breathtaking.
We’ve been acquainted with some of our daily routines, chores, and equipment. There will be a rotation whereby each team will be responsible for either cleaning, dishwashing, or food preparation. Our gear consists of a two-person tent and a slim mattress. I have to admit that having Michael to assist with the operation of getting the tent assembled is a bonus.
We spent the rest of the day exploring our surroundings; our first night of camping tonight is on the grounds of a vineyard. Not too shabby!
And ended the day wetting our whistles, sampling the local South African wines, and getting to know our group.
Accommodation:
- Tents! But, if camping isn’t your style, check out other accommodation options in Cederberg and the Western Cape area.
TIP: We use World Nomads for travel insurance when we travel internationally. We believe they offer the best coverage for the money and they are super easy to work with! You can get a quote using the widget on our Resources page.
